Canadian Cancer Care or Neglect?

This is an excerpt from my book, "One Hand Clapping"

Cancer treatment in Canada is like one hand clapping. As long as the hand holding chemotherapy, radiation and surgery is not permitted to connect with the other hand offering alternative, potentiating options, including biological, homeopathic, energetic, spiritual and nutritional solutions, no sound will be heard, no integration will occur, and the powerful synergy that cures cancer will elude us.

"When I first arrived for this appointment, I was looking around the waiting room at the cancer patients. My heart went out to them. Many looked very ill, immune-compromised and some had the palour of clay. I thought to myself, “This is so wrong”. These people deserve to live and to have the best care available, but instead, they are locked into a system where they are treated with chemotherapy and radiation only. They are not guided in the importance of an individual immune-boosting nutrition program, a spiritual program and energy healing. They receive no additional therapies designed to mitigate the damage of the chemo or the radiation, nor do they receive adjunctive therapies that will potentiate the effectiveness of the chemo or radiation. Only their physical situation is being assessed and then it is being treated with limited options.
The Journal of Clinical Oncology (May 1, 2008) published a study which had investigated the nutritional status of 9,000 cancer patients and found that only about 15% were eating properly – the rest, while undergoing chemotherapy, were eating junk food at the same time without any idea of what they were doing to themselves. One of the most important aspects of cancer treatment is the consumption of a vegetable-based diet, supplemented by organic protein, healthy fats and good carbohydrates. At no time, can a cancer patient afford to eat junk food. Junk food feeds cancer cells by providing glucose in abundance, and by creating an acidic environment in which disease thrives.

We know why these patients are not following a strict dietary regimen. It is because their doctors are not educated in the importance of nutrition, plain and simple. The 15% who are eating properly have very likely researched the food connection to cancer themselves."
