A Golden Drink That Fights Cancer

This is a yummy drink that contains naturally occurring anti-cancer phytochemicals. I first tasted this drink at Sanoviv Medical Institute in Mexico. There, it was called "Golden Milk". I can't remember the exact recipe, but this is my version. It is simple.

1/2 C almond milk
1/2 - 1 tsp. turmeric
agave honey or unpasteurized honey to taste
1/2 tsp. coconut oil

Heat slightly in saucepan and stir.

Drink this soothing potion any time of day. I prefer to have it first thing every morning.

Turmeric is a phytochemical with anti-cancer properties. The curcuminoids are the principal compounds present in turmeric. The anti-cancer effect of curcumin in laboratory animals has been observed when this molecule is administered to mice, preventing the appearance of tumours induced by carcinogens. It is thought that turmeric may be the cause of the disparity in the rates of some cancers in India and Western countries. Until recently, turmeric has been almost exclusively consumed in India.

Phytochemical compounds are molecules that allow plants to defend themselves against infection and damage caused by microorganisms, insects, or other predators. This phytochemical production occurs in direct proportion to the stress to which the plant is exposed. Therefore, we might conclude that plants cultivated organically, without the use of pesticides, are likely more susceptible to attack and thus, contain greater quantities of self-defence molecules.

Since the protection by these phytochemical compounds is not restricted to their effect on plants, but also affects the behaviour of our own defence systems in fighting cancer, we would be:
a) well-advised to consume plants that contain these phytochemicals
b) well-advised to seek organic plants or plants that contain signs of insects, which also suggests that pesticides have not been used

The perfect shiny red tomato, the apple with the glossy, waxy surface and the biggest bunch of broccoli are likely produced in an unhealthy environment of pesticides. It is unfortunate that in order to get organic produce nowadays, we must pay more for what God gave us free in times gone by.

SOURCES OF PHYTOCHEMICALS: turmeric, blueberries, strawberries, green tea, soybeans, tomatoes, grapes, citrus fruit, garlic, cabbage, broccoli
